Hi, I'm Julie Bennett, founder of Golden Gatherings SRQ.
I’ve always had a special place in my heart for older adults. I love their stories, their humor, their perspective, and the wisdom that only comes from a life well lived.
I believe some of the best moments in life are the simple ones—great conversation, laughter over lunch, discovering a new place, watching the sunset, or sitting across the table from someone who makes you smile.
And I’ve learned something along the way:
Life is better when we have someone to share it with.

Why I Created
Golden Gatherings
After spending more than five years working with older adults, I began noticing something.
Many wonderful people were independent, active, and perfectly capable of enjoying life—but they didn’t always have someone to enjoy it with.
And sometimes, that makes all the difference.
A lunch is nicer when someone is sitting across the table.
A museum is more interesting when there’s someone beside you saying, “Come look at this.”
A sunset feels a little more special when it’s shared.
They weren’t necessarily looking for more care.
They were looking for more connection.
Friendship. Companionship. Laughter. Meaningful experiences. And something enjoyable to look forward to.
Sometimes, what we really need is someone to say:
“Come join us.”
That simple idea became the heart of Golden Gatherings SRQ.
How the Idea Took Shape
Golden Gatherings was created to celebrate this stage of life not as something to simply manage, but as a time that can still be filled with friendship, laughter, discovery, and new memories.
A place where friendships can grow.
Where conversations happen naturally.
Where everyone feels welcome.
Where there is always something to look forward to.
“I didn’t create Golden Gatherings because I believe people need more things to do. I created it because I believe we need more people to do them with.”
And that, more than anything, is what Golden Gatherings is about

Connection
Everyone deserves people they can laugh with, talk with, and look forward to seeing.
Friendship
It’s never too late to make a new friend—or rediscover how much fun friendship can be.
Joy
There are still places to explore, things to try, people to meet, reasons to laugh, and memories waiting to be made.
Belonging
Everyone deserves to feel welcomed, included, and part of something—somewhere people know your name and are genuinely happy to see you.
Purposeful Time
Our time is precious. I want Golden Gatherings to fill the calendar with experiences worth looking forward to and moments worth remembering.
